I have never tried this with a car battery. the repair guide i used required at least one good tool battery to perform the fix. most people have at least one sitting around i would think.. Absolute performance is roughly equal. learn the difference between lithium-ion or nicad for cordless tools. I had battery issues with my 2009 honda civic hybrid. in less than one year i have battery issues. a software update made the problems even worse..
